Birds abound here as the resort is close to MacArthur State Park, a wildlife refuge/sanctuary. An observant guest will learn to spot the ospreys who can usually be seen every day hunting the waters in search of fish. We spend the day watching the ospreys and pelicans hunt for fish & head up to our room on the 19th floor. It doesn't take long for this osprey to come gliding up towards our balcony where he hovers for about 90 seconds showing off his catch. The fish is a pompano & his little tail kept wiggling as the osprey catches it's breath before heading it's nest or tree a couple of miles away. Unlike eagles who will eat on the ground or almost anywhere, ospreys will only eat in a tree / nest. If they drop their fish, they will not come down to retrieve it as these guys are full-fledged hunters who pull their dinner out of the ocean.
