Char, the Mac is new, I am just learning my way around on it. The PC will eventually go off-line. The iPad is the noisy little son of a gun. It sends a notification every time I get a message on several different sites including Facebook and email. I have to change the settings on that thing.

That is a great question, Robin. Here recently, I don't think I would like the answer. The time would be measured more in minutes rather than hours or days; not counting the period when I am asleep.

Robin's question is worthy of consideration for me. I was thinking about this as the Vista Security 2012 virus hit my office computer and I scrambled for the smart phone, laptop, net book, pad and extra offfice computer for a solution... Do I really need to be so connected?
