The eye appears dark, or at least not bright yellow. There is a hint of red in the orbital. This could be photographic artifact, or it could be the start of the development of breeding condition. Some gulls will begin courtship in a couple of months, although probably not Vega Gull. Sparse spotting on nape and streaking on head is described for Vega in some texts.
