This mill was mule or tractor powered and was used to extract the juice from
sugar cane for syrup making. The power source was attached to the end of the
horizontal pole and moved in a circle around the mill to turn the crushing
cylinders as sugar cane stalks were fed into the mill from the side. There
was a spout which channeled the juice into a bucket for transport to the
cooking shed where it was reduced to syrup. This is an HDR image.
