纳木错,海拔4730米。 Namtso, altitude 4730 meters. Tibet.
On the northern Tibet Plateau lies the beautiful Namtso Lake.
Namtso means “lake of heaven” in Tibetan, and with an altitude of 4,718 meters it is indeed the highest lake in the world. It is one of the three sacred lakes of Tibet, the others being Yamdrok Yumtso Lake in Nankartse and Mapham Yumtso Lake in Ngari. It is like a bright pearl set in the grasslands, and seems, from a distance, to merge with the sky, so the Tibetans named it “Jake of heaven”.
