Celebrate Solstice

Higher and higher--After the Winter solstice the Sun follows a higher and higher path through the sky each day until it is in the sky for exactly 12 hours.

This is an especially important celebration for those of us in the Pacific Northwest because we will leave behind nights that are 16 hours long; and since now our days have very little sun with winter's clouds, the Solstice represents new hope for all of us:

I rather like the black foreground, it would be with the sun behind the hills yet..... focus is on the sun and colors,,,,, very nice,

Yeah this concept works for me, blinding. Not long ago in an October challenge I was questioned for all the blackness in the image not too different than this and you convey similar treatment and design in your piece. "I'd like to see more details in the black" it must be my monitor or video card. "No not your monitor all I see is blackness too...." Yada yada blah bla bla rule of thirds applies here also in centering up your sun image. How would it feel to have just a tiny bit of the circle of the sun? Ones' eye would complete the full circle and the cycle of the sun.
