Persian Mauser model 98/29, text in Farsi on the left side of the receiver says:
tofang-e nemoone 1317 karkhane-ye aslahe sazi berno"
("Rifle model 1317 Made at Brno Arms factory")
The number 1317 refers to the Persian year 1317 which is the year 1938 in the Western calendar
To the left of the inscription there are serial number in Farsi and importer's serial number
