Muskrat

This muskrat was very busy digging into the side of a muddy bank. I wasn't sure if he was trying to dig a burrow, but I don't think so, judging from his actions. He then moved into the shallow water to wash himself of the accumulated mud.

This guy is cute going about his business. I've only seen them briefly as they move through the reeds.

Super portrait of this little guy with the light shining off his fur like that.

Getting to be that time of year again - soon I will see them all along the Grand River on the ice.

Is that where he ended up. Ours took off a few years ago and I see he has found better waters by you. I found him hard to photo as he was so shy. He seems to have mellowed a bit here.

Now, this is an unusual sight for me; I have only seen muskrats on fur collars, long ago before PETA opposed. What a charming and beautiful image this is, better here than around someone's neck!
