Ferndale is a small town in Humboldt County, CA. Near the middle of the northern redwoods, it was primarily an agricultural based community. Most of the downtown area was built in the era of the Victorians and since it was close to many providers of redwood decorative products, they used them profusely on many of their buildings. It is off the main highways and so many buildings survived the temptation to rebuild or upgrade the commercial area to stay current.
