This boy plays on the street at the doorstep of his home, intent on driving a toy truck along the road of his own imagination. Such human values as creativity, fantasy, and control are all expressed through his intense expression and actions.
I see "isolation" as simply a way to remove all distractions from an image in an attempt to stress the activity at hand. In this image, I moved in on the subject until only the child his toys, the door, wall, and sidewalk are present. He is alone with them. This is his world, and nobody else enters it at this moment. I don't see "isolation" as compositional element, but rather simplification to tell a story without distraction or competition. Hope this helps, Merri.

I could have watched this little boy play for quite awhile! Can you please give me some context for "isolation"? I think I understand it to be framing a subject using a neutral background and geometric focal point which makes it all about the the boy and his toy truck. If not, please correct :-)
Yes, it does try to tell the story of human imagination at work, eye2see. Thanks for noting how important the isolation of subject matter can be in choosing our subject matter and making the image.
