Pokeweed, Phytolacca americana

Phytolacca americana, Family Phytolaccaceae

Florescence looks like a giant Persicaria/Lady's Thumb, but the leaves are much larger,
leathery and deeply veined, not smooth. Also, does not grow in water but on the bank.

Native to N.America, not California; now spreading throughout the state. Per Jepson, not previously
recorded in Santa Clara County. This one found at Oka Ponds, Los Gatos, Santa Clara County.
