Puffballs (Lycoperdon)

Autumn woods are usually full of fungi, but it has been pretty dry around here, and so far, not a lot of fungi to be seen. However, I did find this small cluster of puffballs on a tree stump.

pretty they are with their rounded shapes and textured caps, like the tops of little heads in a woody forest
