A tie, obviously hewn from old growth, adorned with a date nail from 1928. The gray colour of the tie is the result
of a zinc treatment used for many years before the advent of creosote. Judging by the years stamped on the bulk
of the date nails, a major tie replacement program was carried out on the Oyen Subdivision in 1933, 34 and 35,
perhaps an indirect make-work project carried out during the height of the depression by the government owned CN.
