From the 1893 photograph's caption: "For 92 years ('this stately mansion') has been the residence of the presidents of the U.S.," and the work shows the 22 presidents – from John Adams through Benjamin Harrison - who occupied the executive mansion during presidencies from 1792 through 1893. The photograph is from "Scenes from Every Land: Over Five Hundred Photographic Views" (Springfield, Ohio: Mast, Crowell and Kirkpatrick).
