18. Reflection of our heritage #2

Chiloquin, OR

Our family has both European and Native American grandparents, that shared many traditions with us. My grandparents were Irish,
mixed Scot and English, Chicasaw, Blackfoot and Seminole, We are all "plaid".

Pow wows are very important social occasions. My granddaughter was a shawl dancer, I was a jingle dancer as a child. This was the 25th annual pow wow and indian rodeo for the Klamath tribes. They were Restored to tribal status in 1986. Many tribes here have still not been restored (the nearby shasta Tribe is an example).

I love that you are celebrating your heritage. Most people today don't even know who or what they are. Big vote.

I love watching the pow wows that happen here annually. I found out my birth grandmother was Indian and even though I never knew it growing up I always had a spirit connection I think. beautiful photo
