Lovely Memories

New Roads, Louisiana

With Hurricane Irene churning off the east coast of the U. S., I thought back to this house in New Roads, Louisiana, where we road right into Hurricane Gustav. However, the thick plaster walls of this cottage kept us safe and sound.

We remember Gustav too. Looks like the nations has learned lessons from Katrina. While
Irene turned out to be a Cat 1 storm at landfall, with a storm surge that fizzled out, the rain created terrible problems inland

A wonderful place to sit and meditate on the fragility of life.

A lovely cottage and glad you had a place to go to escape the worst of the storm. It looks very homey.

I like the leafy framing of this photo - goes well with the colour of the shutters.

A sturdy front, with those heavy shutters! Yes, this would be a safe haven. I'm praying for everyone on the East Coast.
