Cicada changes (Neotibicen canicularis)

These two photos show a cicada (top) that has just crawled out of its nymphal skin (case) and is resting until its wings grow. You can see those wing stubs near his head. The bottom photo shows the cicada perched on a piece of paper with his wings fully extended but still fragile and drying. This morning, 22 August, I released him outside as his wings were fully formed and he'd successfully transformed into an adult cicada. He flew off and I'm sure was relieved!
