After all the excitement of the wildlife in Lamar Valley we finally made it to the Mt. Washburn trail head, located at Dunraven Pass between Canyon and Tower junctions (a pretty drive). Even though it's one of the most popular hikes in the park, there were only a few cars when we started hiking at eight o'clock. It's three miles and 1400 feet elevation gain to the top. It's a good trail and nicely graded - it didn't take long for us to hike up. This is where the fire tower came into view and the home stretch of the hike.
