Dragonhunter (Hagenius brevistylus)

This Dragonhunter tried to catch every insect that came near it including other dragonflies, grasshoppers and even a cicada. There were many grasshoppers (Carolina Locusts) on the ground in this particular area, so many that each step I took to get into a good position to photograph the Dragonhunter flushed a couple grasshoppers, which lured the Dragonhunter from its perch. These photos were the only two I managed. The other times the Dragonhunter was perched in a favorable position I either couldn't get focused quick enough or get close enough before another insect, usually the grasshoppers that flushed with each step I took, lured the Dragonhunter out of my viewfinder. Eventually the Dragonhunter caught something and took it up into a tree.
