I took this image 2 years ago and did not know what kind of frog it was because while it looked like a green frog, the legs were not banded like other green frogs. Turns out that is diagnostic for Mink Frogs! I recently recorded Mink Frogs at the same location -- the males only sing at night in breeding season in July and early August. This recording is past the peak breeding time so he calls are less frequent. Also of note, I was experimenting with recording with an iphone...this is entirely recorded with the built-in mic. Considering the light rain, it is not bad. Take a listen below.
