Two Images of a Humpback feeding along the shores of one of the islands. Note the Gulls flying above and around the whale ready to pick up any fish dropped or chased to the surface by the whale.
It is likely very deep right next to the rocky shore. Also, since these islands are not inhabited, there is nothing to scare the whales away. Finally, as the whale was feeding along the shore gulls were buzzing around and above to grab any fish dropped or chased to the surface by the whale. There is probably an abundance of fish along the shore. The whale allowed our boat to get quite close, hence, it is probably used to seeing tour boats up close.
