I say that because of the shooting situation.
In a boat, my guide and I were headed back to the lodge to turn in for the night. Bear sightings that evening had been marginally good. So I commented that what I needed was a good "beaver photo". However, it was too late in the evening to go to the beaver lodge. So we instead just headed back to our lodge. That's when we spotted this guy (or girl) in the distance near the shore line.
In photography, extremely low lighting doesn't combine well with a bouncing boat & a fast swimming beaver.
But we still decided to give things a try anyhow. While driving the boat, Amy make soft cooing sounds that surprisingly got the beaver's attention. When she finally stopped the boat, the beaver started to swim circles around us: coming closer and closer. At one pointed, it almost looked like he was going to jump into the boat!!! Not quite sure about the cooing sounds, he was very curious. Unfortunately as he came head on straight toward me at the open back of the boat, I started to laugh. That totally messed up my photo opt. The beaver also finally decided not to join us in the boat. Nevertheless, I did get this (and some other closer head shots) as he kept circling us while trying to find the "baby beaver".
It was a delightful night to remember.
