He was rewarded by catching the first fish of the trip. The fishing was quite slow overall, with only three fish caught in four days of fishing. They only redeeming (if possible) fact was everyone we spoke with was having trouble getting the fish to bite. The black flies, not so much. We estimated over 250 bites each over five days. Nasty, nasty creatures. Someone needs to genetically engineer a super breed of dragonfly to eat these pests.
