Bubbles and Balloons

Assignment: Make a photograph using fake dewdrops on glass.

Method: Add olive oil to a water-filled glass pie plate and stir with a fork. Pie plate rested on a metal bowl (about 8 inches high) containing balloon-patterned wrapping paper. I used the Kenko 20mm and 36mm tubes on the lens.

Jill's comments on this, the infuser, and the rose:

Love the similarity in color scheme and floral subject matter in these two shots, yet they provoke very distinct feelings. The Infuser Impressionism shot is truly reminiscent of just that: an impressionist painting. The way the color moves delicately throughout the composition is water-color-esque, and yet the holes in the infuser add an element of mystery and abstraction that we'd never see in such a painting. The White Rose is much more matter-of-fact, presenting the subject matter with no mystery and in a deliberate pose. The gradients of warm to cool colors in the back add a bit of motion and depth, and do a great job of making the white rose pop.
