Holcocephala Robber Fly

Nixon County Park

This robber fly was happily dining on a gnat while dragging what appeared to be a dead robber fly along with it. I suspect they had been a mated pair but why the smaller one died I can't guess unless the female decided to dispatch the male. A very macabre scene.

Quite the shot, Ann. What an interesting slice of life you have captured here. I wonder if the other robber fly died after mating. V

Fascinating, Ann. They look like Siamese twins.
