We had an unexpectedly good time today. After a trip to the beach for clam digging (Ginny only got one stinkin' clam) we fooled around in the motor home until after lunch. Then it was time to head out and do something new. We decided that the Shallon Winery in Astoria would be the object of our sojourn today. It turned out to be a hoot. Meet Paul van der Veldt, the owner, and sole employee. We had a very interesting time with him. Discussions included Hawaii, the airship Akron, chemistry and novel things to do with chocolate wine (yes, chocolate wine, let your imagination run with that one for a while). If you are ever in Astoria, the Shallon Winery is a must see.
