We left our rented house in Gardiner around 4 am intending to be in the Lamar Valley before sunrise with the intent of spotting wolves. My brother-in-law was driving and I was hoping to catch a nap in the back seat, but I soon discovered this would be impossible due to the many stops made for lumbering bears in the road and other welcome distractions. Here is one of them, a subtle fog rising over a field of grass in the soft pre-dawn light near Tower-Roosevelt. I am sure my family regreats having a photographer as part of this trip. Every 3 hour drive turned into an 8 hour adventure, but with lots of great memories captured in vivid color.
