7th July - The Day of the Finnish Ice-cream !?

Helsinki Centre

I could hardly believe my eyes when I noticed on the front page of the biggest Finnish newspaper, Helsingin Sanomat, a full-page ad saying 'Today is the Day of the Finnish Ice-cream!' And the text continued:
'In Finland more ice-cream is eaten than in any other European country.'
Don't know if this is true, but at least in the summer we do consume masses of ice-cream in different forms.. the Finnish ice-cream is delicious.
The yearly consumption of ice-cream in Finland per person is about 13 - 14 liters (ca 55-59 cups). There are four big manufacturers of ice-cream in Finland. We also import some ice-cream.

This shot is taken in April, using the same illustration as today's ad.. Hope it refreshes you, in the hot spells of July!

It is a very refreshing photo. I just had a bowl of BlueBell Ice Cream from here in Texas. I would love to try Finnish ice cream too!

upertiikeri" Mmmm... Very cramy scoop-icecream in a orange/vanilla flavour. Best icecream in the world! By Valio, not the other manufacturers ;o)
You only get it in Finland/Åland.

First I had to convert liter to cups; 1 liter equals 4 and I/2 cups in US. Whatever, this sounds pretty good to me. I love the "Day of the Finnish Ice-Cream. It would finish me, but who cares! It is an adorable image and, thanks to you, I will suggest that we too have this day to the US Congress. Now, for some ice-cream.... V
