On Canada Day, the Canadian flag on the Peace Tower on Parliament Hill was replaced with the Governor General's flag. The Governor General's flag is flown on any building the Governor General is visiting. Last year, when the Queen was present on Canada Day, the Royal flag was flown as it takes precedence over both the Canadian flag and the Governor General's flag. Even though Prince William was present on Canada Day this year, his flag does not take precedence over the Governor General's flag and so the Governor General's flag was flown on Canada Day.
