I found this butterfly on my birdbath early in the morning. He was pretty slow and lethargic, so there is a reasonably good chance that he had newly emerged from his cocoon. He crawled up on my finger and I moved him over to these flowers. Then I put some hummingbird nectar on my finger since butterflies and hummingbirds like the same nectar. However, I think he got tired of me prodding at him because he soon flew away over the fence never to be seen again.
