Imagine students performing Sophocles' great tragedy in the original Greek now?...or an audience to appreciate it?....also since Vassar only became coed in 1971, the student actors pictured here were all young women which only dawned on me when I was working this image in Photoshop....the costuming was brilliant.....as must have been these girls....I think the original photograph is a masterpiece of the old formal portrait method.
