Looking back, at the broad Mazama Ridge, after climbing up to its north end, one goes NE, traveling on a wavy thin strip above Stevens Canyon shown on the left, and the drop down to the falls on the right (in the picture looking back down, of course going up left and right is reverse).

The Tatoosh Ridge is seen in the distance.
