Best in Show ~ Movies and Art Challenges

Galveston TX

This old oak stump was carved into a dog standing at the fence. The owners have dressed him for summer!
When Hurricane Ike slammed into Galveston, Texas, in Ausust 2008, the saltwater killed an estimated 40,000 trees. Many of them were 100-year-old live oaks, planted after
the great hurricane of 1900. A number of sculptors have taken a unique approach to helping the Island by creating beauty out of the dead trees.
I have a gallery of more oak tree carvings. If you'd like to see, go here http://www.pbase.com/lynnh/newlife

MOVIE CHALLENGE ~ BEST IN SHOW is a 2000 independent film that follows five entrants in a prestigious dog show. The film focuses on the slightly surreal interactions
among the various owners and handlers as they travel to the show and compete. Much of the dialogue was improvised.

I don't remember that carving...is it a new one? I love what they did with all the trees that were destroyed...making them into something artistic. Love this house and looks to be the best of show in both categories! :)
