"The funky cat person is from a doodle I did when visiting Europe. Lots of concentric circles.... This image illustrates that I had no direction, lost, but always exploring, always looking for the next doorway.... " For the image, Bronwen mixes up her own enamels, using 5 different glass brands in powder form, to get the color saturation just right. She painted the image on a flat piece of glass, then fired it in the kiln 4-5 times, helping to keep the colors clean. It is then slowly introduced into the flame and the marble is built up from there. The B was done a little bit different, also fired 4 - 5 times, but made on a 1/2 marble blank, with the enamel painted directly on the 1/2 marble. The firing took a lot longer, since the thickness of the marble blank had to be taken into consideration so she didn't shock and crack the piece.
