This beautiful plane was lost eary this morning (6-13-2011) due to an in air fire. The plane was able to make a safe emergency landing in a farm field shortly after take-off. All 7 crew members escaped injury but the plane was a total loss due to fire. This is a terrible loss to a machine that played such an important part of America's history during WWII.
