the shepherd's tears - brenda
by

The name dianthus literally means "divine flower". As the goddess Artemis was hunting, a shepherd playing his pipes disturbed her prey. To punish him, Artemis angrily tore out his eyes, but later regretted her impulsive action and created these flowers to grow in their place. Today, mine are covered with droplets. I think the shepherd is crying for his lost sight.

Beautiful water droplets,, I think that I will ask for a Mythology Book for Christmas,, I believe the Sweet Williams are biannual, flower, like Fox Gloves, you plant them one year and they do not flower until the next year

These are true red! Love the story too Brenda. You may miss that long lens, but I think these lenses have been missing you! Great shots of the flowers. I still think the 40-150mm kit lens is much better than the 70-300, only lacking that length, but much sharper and faster.
