Black-crowned night-heron: SERIES

Ottawa, Ontario

Jigging for fish: The night heron will rapidly open and close its bill in order to attract prey.

This technique was not successful for this heron so he tried another one. He jumped into the water and paddled around for a few minutes, eventually grabbing a nearby catfish.

Two super images Penny. I saw a juvenile jump in like that and paddle around once.
