A male Round-tailed ground squirrel (Spermophilus tereticaudus) out on a branch
of a creosote bush going after the white seed pods. This one was really out on a
limb and as I approached he lost his balance and fell --- hitting the ground running
and never looking back. This was much more typical behavior than what we experienced
a few moments later:
