Here's a real world example shot at f/2.8, 48mm, @ ISO 800. Note the purple fringe just over my nephew's shoulder (where the black part of the floor is the background). It's subtle, but it's there and can be seen in other areas of this picture (along with general softness at this aperture). Note: this image is unaltered (other than a 100% crop) and comes directly from the camera using it's default settings.
