Black Swallowtail male (Papilio polyxenes)

The strong winds kept this male Black Swallowtail perched facing the wind with wings closed. I don't usually see Black Swallowtails perched with wings closed like this. Normally, they perch with wings open or perch with wings beating wildly. Every once in a while the butterfly would briefly open its wings and I also caught that photo (next).

A lovely capture...their wings are so beautiful when closed, I don't know why they don't display them more often! V
