Elbasan, Albania

The clock tower (1899) in Elbasan, two hours south and east of Durres.
The city was once a juncture point for two branches of the Via Egnatia.
When the Turks seized this fortress in 1466, they gave it its present name,
which means "a place for raiding other people's territory."
