Happy Grizzly

YNP

Breland and I watched this grizzly dig a carcass from beneath the snow and systematically check the bones for scraps. And, yes, we were really close. This is full frame. I checked out the other photographers nearby, all closely watched by a ranger, and decided that I might not be faster but I was probably smarter than some. If that grizzly made a move in our direction I was not staying around for one more click!
Click next for another view of this bear and see Breland's website http://www.pbase.com/bre for more.

Bears arealways fun and exciting to shoot. Your typically safe if you avoid two times...Mothers and cubs, and the males in the fall. 500mm is perfect for these shots. nice.

Great image, Gayle. You only have to be faster than one.

Very nice, it does have a different look in this shot.

Just terrific, Gayle! What a great opportunity to watch his behaviour up close and personal. I'm glad he was more interested in old bones and not fresh, new ones. :D
Best regards,
Dick:)
