A Wary One

Sabino Canyon

A common California Kingsnake (Lampropeltis getula californiae). These are
very shy snakes and will retreat into hiding if they think they've been seen.
I caught this one as it was just about to disappear into this crevice.

Canon EOS 7D ,Canon EF 300mm f/4L IS USM ,1.4x TCII
Cropped for comp full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Neat image of him peeking through. Nice texture to your photo, too. Snakes are not my favorite critter to run into, but I've become sort of used to them. I like to give them their space!
