Cheltenham, Glos.

A humble woodlouse, or slater we called them as children, scoots fast across the floor but not fast enough to escape the D700!

Cracking shot, very well caught, nice lighting !.

Wow..cool shot. I've never looked at one this close...resembles an Armadillo sort of. My mom (from N. Ireland) used to call them 'slate cutters'. When I was little I was really afraid of them, thinking if they could cut slate, what could they do to human flesh? Great shot, very sharp and stark. Very appropriate.

Wow- amazing macro, looks like a prehistoric tank! Somehow I always thought they were flatter.
Cindi Smith23-May-2011 04:17
Quick on the trigger finger! Looks like what we called a doodle bug when we were little! :)
J. Scott Coile23-May-2011 03:45
Like a tank in macro.
Inga Morozoff23-May-2011 01:45
Love it!!!

Great catch Doug. You were certainly quick on the trigger. Super details on this prehistoric looking critter. It looks very big in this photo and a good thing it isn't.

We even have these here! It's a great shot that shows the reality of something we seldom see in such detail!
Phillip Normanton22-May-2011 21:50
Well, I never thought they were quite that shape... most of the ones I find are fatter! Great macro though, tons of detail!
tinkerb22-May-2011 21:12
Brilliant macro, the detail is amazing - great imagination on your behalf. V

Superb detail! V

Very cool macro, great how it posed for you for half a second.
Carl Carbone22-May-2011 19:09
Beautiful macro! It could almost pass for a 3D computer generated model.
globalgadabout22-May-2011 17:55
amazing detail in this superb macro shot...certainly an odd one-eyed creature..V
Brian Samuel22-May-2011 17:06
You've got a very clean floor
Kevin Chester22-May-2011 15:09
LOl At Steph, I think you need a penny in the shot for a sense of scale.
Kevin Chester22-May-2011 15:08
Brilliant, we must have about six million in our garden alone, never thought they would make such a great shot
Stephanie22-May-2011 15:00
Looks prehistoric! Is this the British version of an armadillo? :0)
