Su-7BKL 815

Mierzecice

Su-7BKL 815 retired at Mierzecice, near Katowice. Here, hundreds of obsolete aircraft were stored awaiting sale or disposal (for beer cans...). The old Su-7's flew with 7PLM-B at Bydgoszcz until 1990, although their frontline tasks had been taken over by the much more capable Su-22's from 1985 onwards. '815' survived the scrapman and is on outside display in Fort Czerniakowski Museum in Warszawa.

Dear Roel,

What an awesome and interesting Polish Su-7 photo !!

This machine is, however, a Batch-78 Su-7BKL-version - hence the wheel-ski combination on the main landing gear and the bulges on the nose wheel doors, as only the BKL-version had this features.

BKL meaning Bombardirovschick Kolyosno-Lyzhnoye, fighter-bomber with wheel-ski equipment.

Cheers,
