This school, from West Wittering in West Sussex, seems to have originally been a cartshed possibly dating from the 18th century. It was converted to a school in the late 1820s. When it was dismantled by the Museum in 1981, it had been empty and unused for many years and was on the verge of collapsing into the road. It was reconstructed at Singleton in 1984.
I'm not sure who the children were who are reenacting the classroom scene on their own when we went into the school, but they were doing it very well.
