Santa remember when she was a little girl and the Japanese, which occupied Pohnpei until the end of World War II, would have the school children collect the large African snails and place in baskets before school. The snail had been brought to Pohnpei as a food source but sadly soon overran much of the vegetation and multiplied faster than it could ever be collected to be eaten. The shell of the African snail can reach up to 4 inches.
