FIREPLACE IN WALDERTON HOUSE

Singleton Open Air Museum - West Sussex

The solid and high backed wooden chair kept its occupant completely shielded from draughts, and is surprisingly warm and comfortable.
The flint and brick exterior dates from the early 17th century, but inside are the remains of a medieval timber-framed building with an open hall. It was dismantled, at Walderton near Chichester just inside West Sussex, in 1980 and reconstructed at Singleton in 1982.
