While many parts of Virginia were being ravaged by tornadoes and flash floods on Saturday afternoon, the metropolis of Ashland only received heavy rain and wind. Around 5:30 PM a strong thunderstorm unleashed a torrent of rain as the southbound Amtrak Auto Train rolled through town. This scene was captured from the dry confines of my vehicle which I positioned sideways in the street in order to get this shot.
