The left one is also an example of an Easter Sepulchre, which are only found in England. They are arched recesses, usually in the north wall of the chancel, in which a crucifix was placed from Good Friday to Easter Sunday with sacred items commemorating the entombment and resurrection of Jesus. Candles were lit around the sepulchre and parishioners stood guard until early Easter morning.
In St Mary's Church.
